[00:00:00] Welcome to the Greg Simeone Show. I am so excited to be here. I've wanted to do this podcast for the longest time. I've been planning in my head for even longer. So to be at this point where I'm finally here and you guys are tuning in, listen to it, it means the world to me. So thank you. I am a firm believer that we all have different ways of learning, some more effective than others. And I think for myself, the best way I learn is through conversation. Whether being actively engaged in one. When I'm talking to someone I'm interested in and I'm really picking their brain on something, or whether I'm just a bystander listening to one of those conversations, I always feel like stuff from a conversation sticks more than stuff you hear from, like a lecture or a classroom instruction or just a movie or anything. Like, if you're actively engaged in the conversation and you're interested in it, you're going to remember it, especially if the person knows something you don't know. And that's also the beautiful thing about life, is that there's so much that you don't know. And I'm grateful to understand that. I've also noticed throughout the years so many people at the top of their respective industries are either retiring or finishing their careers and opting out to start a podcast. And I've seen those same people foster so much growth and have so much fun and learn so much just by having interesting conversations with interesting people. And I thought, no better way for me to enhance my life and foster growth and learning than to start my own podcast. I grew up in a small suburb of Boston. I went to public school, I went to private school, and I joined the Marines the day I graduated high school. I did four years honorably as a Marine. It was one of the best things I ever did in my life. And then I worked for a few years, bounced around. I got a call that my local community college was starting a hockey team. [00:01:49] So I used my GI Bill and went back to school, played hockey for them for three years. And I'm so grateful to have had that opportunity. So with all these different life experiences and different cultures I've been engrossed in and had the opportunity to be a part of, I think it gives me a unique perspective to talk to all different people of all different walks of life and get to pick their brain and get to have interesting conversations with these interesting people that I'm interested in. The first three podcasts that I did are awesome. I literally couldn't have picked a better dream guest in Justin Matthew. He's someone that I look up to. He's multifaceted. He's a dog trainer, a gunsmith, a farmer. He trains police canines. And he's just got so much cool going on. So I love talking to him. I picked his brain for a while. That was a really cool conversation. And then my buddy Quinn from the Marines, who is a part time Detroit police officer and also owns his own antenna company, follows his passions. We talk a lot about what his hobbies are and his passions. That's a great conversation. And then the last one is my boy Matty Garland, who is a commercial bluefin tuna fisherman, which is really cool. Like the show Wicked Tuna, they go out and catch those fish. So that was really interesting, me as a fisherman, to pick his brain and learn some stuff about what they go through and what the process of that is. [00:03:10] So I'm really excited for you guys to listen all these conversations and I'm so fucking pumped to finally release this show. [00:03:17] If you guys want to talk to me or you have an interesting person for me to have a conversation with, please don't hesitate. Hit me up about it. Thank you so much.
